All About Christopher Radko Christmas Ornaments...
How was the Christopher Radko ornament company started?
On a quest to replace precious family glass ornaments that were all shattered when the family tree fell, Christopher Radko searched for replacements that would meet his requirements and finding none, went into business for himself designing and crafting European mouth-blown glass ornaments in 1985.
What makes Radko ornaments special?
Radko ornaments are crafted in Poland, Italy and Germany by teams of craftsmen and artists using Renaissance era carving, molding, blowing, hand painting, silver lining and finishing processes. Each glass ornament takes several weeks of painstaking craftsmanship to complete. More than 3000 people are involved in the creation of each year’s collection of ornaments.
There is something for every collector among the Christopher Radko Company ornaments. Beautiful glass blown ornaments categories include baby ornaments, Halloween ornaments, bridal, candies and sweets, houses and cottages, snowmen, Santa ornaments, finials and classic ornaments.
Radko also has special categories of Designer’s Choice, Limited Editions and Special Collections each year. For the Designer’s Choice category, the Radko team selects one special ornament and features it as the sought after Designer’s Choice Ornament of the Year. The ornament that receives this distinction generally sells out so if you like this ornament, it would be wise to buy it when you see it!
The Limited Edition Collection is a small collection of ornaments that are released in a limited quantity for the year. This
series is only in production for one year and is much sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. Each year’s ornament tag will carry the details of the limited edition specifics. Exquisitely detailed and lovingly created, these wonderful ornaments also sell out rapidly so don’t hesitate to purchase.
2015 marks Christopher Radko's 30th Anniversary. In celebration, Radko has designed a line of Anniversary ornaments and tree toppers.
Last but not least is the Special Collections category. Each year, designers at Christopher Radko design and craft a special ornament collection that will be retired at the end of the year. There are several ornaments in the Special Collection based on a theme or story line. And as you have probably already guessed, ornaments in the Special Collection are highly desirable and generally sell out.
Are Shiny Brite ornaments still being made?
Yes, Shiny Brite ornaments are still being made today. Another division of Christopher Radko is the Shiny Brite Collection introduced in 2001. Shiny Brite ornaments were popularized in the 1940’s By Max Eckardt and were easily recognizable due to their bright colors and glitter accents. The Christopher Radko Shiny Brite line faithfully creates glass ornament sets, lights, icicle ornaments, miniature ornaments and decorative accessories in the Shiny Brite tradition. Creative shapes, vivid colors, retro fonts and designs all mark this exciting and wonderful collection.
As you can see, the Christopher Radko Company has come to mean much more than ornaments or Christmas decorations, it embraces a philosophy of quality, craftsmanship and works from the heart.
